Position Overview:

The EVG Operator/Helper supports the operation of the electro forge welding (EVG) line by assisting with material handling, machine setup, and production processes. This role ensures a steady flow of materials, monitors equipment during operation, and helps maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality production of welded bar grating. The EVG Helper works closely with the EVG Operator and Supervisor to support daily production goals. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the EVG Operator with machine setups and preparation for production runs
  • Load slit coils onto payoff racks using forklifts, coil grippers, and other material handling equipment
  • Monitor coil payoff and feed operations to ensure smooth and continuous production
  • Thread, cut, match, and weld coil ends as required to maintain uninterrupted machine operation
  • Observe incoming materials and monitor equipment performance, reporting any malfunctions or material issues to the Operator or Supervisor
  • Monitor runout, shear, and off-load equipment to ensure proper operation and product flow
  • Inspect finished grating, identify completed pieces, and assist with job tracking and documentation
  • Unload finished materials and move them to designated staging areas
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks and report equipment issues to supervision
  • Assist with inventory counts, material handling, and general production support as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices and actively participate in safety initiatives
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing or industrial experience preferred
  • Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools and equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety

Other requirements:

  • Must understand welding processes, methods, and quality assurance of welds.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems and related simple troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to use and understand basic measurement tools.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools and can work well with them.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and management skills are essential for this role.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities.
