Overview & Responsibilities

Effectively manage second shift by providing clear technical direction, lead the team with timely and actionable guidance, and foster a safe work environment. Maintain a sharp focus on quality control to deliver precision products on schedule, while also improving personnel utilization to enhance overall shop efficiency. Ensure timely delivery of repaired services, contributing to superior customer satisfaction and increased revenue.

Nature of the Position:

  • Plan, supervise, and control the activities of direct and indirect hourly employees for efficient, safe and profitable operation under the direction of the service center operations manager.  

  • Manage overall safety during nightshift of shop and staff. 

  • Manage machinist, mechanics, welders, maintenance and shipping and receiving operations and coordinate all shop activities necessary to insure fast, thorough and accurate completion of repairs.

  • Additional responsibilities include ARA projects, securing tooling requirements, performance reviews and disciplinary activities.

  • Execute the daily work schedule with the proper systems and priority for effective and timely operations in the shop.  

  • Ensures that the correct job-related information is accessible and facilitates the necessary resources to complete the required tasks.

  • Monitors non-conformance (scrap/rework/warranty) and provides technical expertise to ensure quality/safety on all projects. 

  • Enforces compliance of plant rules on the shop floor, and administers the labor contract with consistency, tact, and fairness.  

  • Provide timely information to relevant personnel, ensure the availability of necessary tooling and resources with calibration wherever necessary, to do the job.  

  • Supports the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities of operations including, but not limited to, establishing best practices, standard work instructions, safety culture and habits, and good housekeeping techniques.  

Background and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience

  • Diploma and advanced technical training or equivalent experience in the field of turbo machinery or manufacturing. 

  • Minimum of 4 years' experience working in part manufacturing or a repair environment.  

  • Detailed working knowledge of shop practices, repair, safety, personnel, and administrative procedures. 

  • Technical ability to make decisions and direct assigned personnel to perform required assignments. 

  • Excellent supervisory and communication skills. 

  • Technical skills include specific knowledge of Conventional & CNC machining, CNC programming, assembly, manufacturing processes, welding and heat treatment, and shop floor control.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills are also required. 

  • Military background is a plus
