Refit Mechanic

Primary Function: 

To disassemble, clean, reassemble and adjust mill roll bearings, chocks, and related parts. To operate roll lathes and Wendt grinders to machine or rematching iron, steel, alloy, or carbide roll to desired pass design. To inspect, dismantle, repair and rebuild rolling mill guides and water heaters. 

Tools & Equipment: Various size wrenches, hammers, feeler gauges, calipers, micrometers-inside, outside and depth; drill, sanders, taps, dies, cutting torch, cleaning fluids, remote controlled overhead crane, templates, hydraulic jacks-standard and special, gasket materials, special gauges, hand grinders, special removal and installation tools, paint brushes, dial indicators, prints, etc. Various, files, punches, buffers, drills, taps, welding machine, grease gun, sand blaster, measuring instruments, bearing washers, bearing heaters, steam cleaner, forklift. Roll lathe, Wendt grinder, Wendt profile dresser, notch milling machine, branding machine, bead blaster, hydraulic press, broom and shovel. Drill press, portable grinder, guide setting equipment, easy outs, etc. Materials: Water spray headers, hydraulic roll installation and removal tools, hydraulic pumps. Mill rolls, bearings, chocks, grease, sand, gas, oxygen, solvents, paint, glue, etc. Mill rolls of various materials. Entry and exit guides for bar and wire rod rolling, guide rolls, bearings, welding rod, hoses, oil lines, oil, metering blocks, sand, oxygen and gas, etc. 

Qualifications for this position include:

• High School/GED required.
• 2+ years working in an industrial environment on a mechanical maintenance craft.
• Experienced working in extreme weather conditions.
• Willing to climb, bend, stand, or lift items.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to pass a written test, Face-to-face interview.
