Lead Man

P&K Stone, LLC offers high quality crushed stone, manufactured sand and recycled concrete. Our aggregate materials are used in a wide range of construction aggregate applications including infrastructure projects, commercial projects and residential projects.
The Role: The Lead Man position is based at P&K Stone LLC’s Chico, Texas plant and reports to the Night Maintenance Manager. The Maintenance Lead Man shall assist the Plant Supervisor and Manager in leading day-to-day activities in all phases of the process to include maintenance, safety efforts, quality control, employee supervision/training in our fixed plant operations.
What You’ll Do:

- Maintenance- The Lead Man shall inspect equipment pre-and post-shift, assist and organize the work of employees in the daily inspection and maintenance of plant and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruption to process.
- Equipment Inspections- Conducts Post Work inspection of repairs or works to ensure that they have been performed in quality fashion. Responsible for conducting inspections of equipment during planned downtime hours. Such equipment shall include but is not limited to Crushers, Shaker Screens, Fine Material Washers, Course Material Washers, Conveyors, Plant Structures, etc.
- Organize and Plan Production- Assigns work orders to team members for execution of fabrication, repair, and installation. Ensures adherence to the Plant’s Preventative Maintenance and Lube Schedule.
- Manages a solid maintenance program to ensure that all assets are well maintained, responsible for tracking parts inventory and notifies Production Supervisor when minimum parts quantities have been reached for restock.
- Promote Safety- Take an active role prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure team is in total compliance with all P&K Stone policies and procedures and MSHA Regulations. Proactively manage health & safety of employees to continuously improve the company's health & safety performance
- Supervision- Identifies growth opportunities for team members and coordinates with Production Supervisor to provide training for employees via in-house training or 3rd party vendors. Contributes towards building culture of continuous improvement and pursues improvements of existing plant equipment. Participate as a key member of the management team
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
- In depth knowledge of aggregates production and associated equipment and processes
- At least 5 years of aggregates industry
- Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.
- Ability to read and write and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to communicate over two-way radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Strong mechanical knowledge.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Demonstrated proficiency with oxy/acetylene torch and stick welding, MIG a plus.
- Must be able to identify and basic parts for ordering (bearings, idlers, screens, pulleys)
- Must be able to field layout and fabricate in steel.
- This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, safety reflective vest, full body harness, and welding hood.
- Must be able to work 8-12 hour (+) shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair and maintain all plant equipment.
- Proficiency with a wide variety of hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to work in outdoor environment and in elevated areas.
Knowledge Required
- Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock mining, MSHA regulations, and quality control systems and processes.
- Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.
- Working Conditions. Role operates in an outdoor environment. Candidate must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noise between 85dba – 105dba.
- Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance procedures with Heavy Equipment
- Strong track record of leading safety and health, as well as regulatory compliance
