Primary Purpose:

 

Assist heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) Technician to maintain, repair and install heating and air conditioning systems and equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HV AC systems in district facilities.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Valid Texas driver's license

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to use hand and power tools

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Physically fit with good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination and sense of balance

Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds

Good human relations skills and ability to work with others

Learn/progress toward journeyman classification

 

Experience:

Some knowledge helpful, but not required

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Facility Construction, Repair and Maintenance

 

1. Assist HVAC Technician in completing work orders.

2. Organize materials as instructed.

3. Abide by all safety rules.

4. Maintain a clean and safe work area.

5. You will be required to be on a security and on call rotation.

 

Safety:

 

1. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.

2. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

3. Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.

4. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

 

 

 

 

Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:

Tools/Equipment Used: Meters, gauges, welding equipment, ladder, hoist, hand and powertools, pipe bender, propane torch. Light truck or van.

Posture/Motion/Lifting: Continuouswalking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, carrying and heavy lifting. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside.

Environment: Exposure to extreme temperatures; frequent district wide travel, occasional prolonged and irregular hours; work indoors and outdoors to conduct on-site inspection of all facilities and construction projects; work around machinery with moving parts; work on ladders or scaffolding

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; communicate effectively and professionally at all times
