Day in the Life

As the Precast Manufacturing Operations Lead, you guide a support department within a busy industrial plant, ensuring materials flow, crew coordination, and product quality come together on time. Your morning kicks off by reviewing production orders and BOMs, confirming quantities, specifications, and delivery dates. From there, you build and adjust daily priorities, sequencing work to keep the shop moving and customers satisfied.

Throughout the day, you prepare and maintain operational schedules, coordinating with fabrication, carpentry, welding, warehouse, and equipment teams to make sure output meets spec. You analyze production and operating reports, quickly resolving manufacturing, maintenance, and staffing issues to control costs and avoid delays. You refine standard operating and working practices, observe the team at work, and coach for consistent adherence to standards and safety.

When needed, you’re hands-on—stepping into precast and prestress tasks, carpentry, metal and welding fabrication, warehouse ops, or equipment operation to unblock the line. You address worker concerns professionally and escalate unsettled grievances to the Production Superintendent. You also keep the data clean and actionable: compiling, storing, and retrieving production and support information; running IFS production and time/attendance reports; and generating shop card reports to keep performance visible.
