Schedule: 7a-3p M-F OT as needed On call rotation every 4-6 weeks
Pay: $32.78/hr
Team Summary
The primary function of the Mechanic I is to perform all tasks and duties in a safe manner as trained by plant management per EHS direction for site policies and OSHA standards. The Mechanic I will have both technical and leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have established advanced troubleshooting skills to diagnose/solve daily machine issues as well as support medium and long-term expense and capital development projects. They will have general mechanical expertise as well as a strong understanding of critical systems and equipment specific to their plant. Their leadership skills will be utilized by mentoring the less-experienced mechanics and helping set the daily priorities and direction for the group. They will report to a maintenance supervisor who will set their longer-term goals/priorities when necessary. This individual will interact extensively with the production and maintenance teams to enhance the day-to-day operations of the plant.
Essential Duties
At a minimum, utilize or have a working knowledge of the skill sets and equipment listed below, which will be further developed through proper training and job experience:
• Pneumatics and Hydraulics
• Pipe Fitting
• Welding
• Pumps
• Machinery Drives
Utilities: Have operating knowledge in the plant to include water, oil, natural gas, compressed air, and fire protection systems.
Tools: Have good working knowledge of mechanical tools, hand, battery operated, and electric driven and safely uses the correct tool for each job.
Safety: Is aware of safety hazards existing in an industrial facility. Always practices safe work habits and maintains a clean work area.
Use computer systems such as Maximo and understand basic Windows navigation.
Interact with peers, supervisors and managers in a cooperative and team oriented manner.
Ensure that housekeeping is maintained and enhanced during the performance of all tasks.
Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained and enhanced during the performance.
Perform millwright work such as aligning a pump and motor with a dial indicator or laser system, install sheaves, belts, align equipment, check for squareness and belt tension.
Install bearings and be able to perform all maintenance work required on bearings
Technical Responsibilities include:
• Troubleshooting daily machine issues.
• Support medium and long-term expense and capital development projects.
• Have general mechanical expertise.
• Strong comprehension of critical systems and equipment specific to their plant.
Leadership Responsibilities include:
• Mentoring the less-experienced mechanics.
• Assist in setting the daily priorities and direction for the group.
• This individual will interact extensively with the production and maintenance teams to enhance the day-to-day operations of the plant. As part of this they will be expected to generally work more closely with management than their less-experienced counterpart
Additional responsibilities to include:
• Tasks associated with a Mechanic I level if specifically assigned as an effort to utilize available, knowledgeable resources for a given task or provide additional skill set training for developmental purposes.
• Once trained, the successful candidate will be subject to “on call” duty as needed
Qualifications Required
H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
Minimum of five (5) years related experience
Able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds.
Able to climb and work at elevated heights.
Able to learn and use computer software to utilize the Maximo MMS
Able to work around the chemicals and environment present in both the Shingle and Nonwoven Plants.
Must be able to effectively communicate written and verbally.
